This is a submission to the Law Reform Commission from the Catholic Bishops' Consultative Group on Bioethics. The submission was made in January 2009, in response to a Consultation Paper published by the LRC. It explores the ethical challenges involved in making legal provision to facilitate those who which to have an input into decision making about future medical treatment which may be proposed at a time when they are no longer competent to make decisions or to express preferences.
This pastoral letter was issued in 2002 by the Irish Bishops' Conference to mark the Day For Life. It reflects on how we can best respond to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people who are dying. It explores the ethical issues raised by euthanasia.
